Eagles Lose In A Shootout

February 10, 2009

The Eastern Michigan Eagles Hockey Club clinched a CSCHL Playoffs spot but fell to the Robert Morris(IL) Eagles 5-4 in a shootout on Saturday Night at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. EMU played a much better game, dominating the second period but couldn’t find the game clinching goal in the third or overtime. Eastern thanks to Michigan-Dearborn though, eliminated Western Michigan from CSCHL playoffs contention and the Eagles will be participating in that post-season competition in Dearborn.

Speaking of WMU, that’s who the Eagles will be playing this week in the second-to-last home and home of the regular season. The contest on Friday Night is at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube at 7:25 PM, with Saturday’s contest a rare afternoon matinee at 3:45 out in Kalamazoo.

EMU’s Home Winning Streak Ends With A Thud

February 7, 2009

The Eastern Michigan 6 game home winning streak was ended by a very, very impressive Robert Morris College team 7-3 tonight here at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. RMC came into the contest losers of 7 straight but played a very good game against a lackluster EMU team tonight. The Eagles look to rebound tomorrow against the RMC Eagles at 7:25 PM at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube in a huge contest for their CSCHL Tournament and slim ACHA Nationals Hopes.

Eagles Complete The Sweep In A Flash

February 1, 2009

The Eastern Michigan University Hockey Club finished off a huge 8 point CSCHL Weekend Sweep of the Kent State Golden Flashes with a 6-4 victory tonight at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. Tonight’s game was very similar in nature to the first game as the two teams were even after one period and the Eagles pushed ahead in the second period en route to victory.

The Eagles hope to continue their hot streak(6 at home, 8 of 9 overall) when Robert Morris comes into town for another critical pair of games.

Twice Is Even Nicer

January 25, 2009

The Eastern Michigan Eagles completed their home-and-home weekend sweep against the Oakland University Grizzlies with a 5-3 victory tonight at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. The Eagles move their record to 5-1 in the year of 2009 and increase their home winning streak to four games.

The Eagles now look to get out of the basement in the CSCHL Conference with a couple of critical home contests against the Kent State Golden Flashes. Friday Night’s contest is at 7:25 PM, while Saturday Night the game is at 7:40 PM. Both games are of course at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.

Eagles Victorious In Rochester Hills!

January 24, 2009

The Eastern Michigan University Hockey team is enjoying the New Year of 2009, as the Eagles have just made it 4-1 on the 2009 campaign with their 5-3 victory against the Oakland University Grizzlies at the Onyx Ice Arena in Rochester Hills. The Eagles scored with 1:20 left in the third period and added an empty net goal with 47 seconds left by Joakim Nillson to clinch the victory on enemy ice.

Clearly the excitement is beginning to build for the Eagles and the hockey program and the Eagles look to make it five out of six tomorrow against these same Oakland University Grizzlies. Opening faceoff is at 7:40 PM at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube tomorrow night.  This contest begins a critical six game homestand for the Eagles as they face CSCHL competition starting next week vs Kent State, Robert Morris and WMU.

I suppose I would be remiss if I didn’t add a happy birthday to Kyle. 🙂

Despite falling 6-3 on Friday Night at the Bird Ice Arena in Athens, Ohio, the Eagles responded with a huge 5-3 victory on Saturday Night to get a weekend split in the inaugural CSCHL series of the 2009 portion of the schedule.

The Eagles look to continue to build on their newly found momentum with a home-and-home series against Oakland University.  The game on Friday Night is at 8:40 PM EST at the Onyx Ice Arena in Rochester Hills, Michigan. Saturday’s game at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube is a 7:40 PM EST start.

Eagles Start Off ’09 With A Win

January 10, 2009

The Eastern Michigan Eagles Hockey Club began the 2009 portion of the schedule the right way with a 7-6 victory over the University of Michigan D2 ACHA Club. Any time the Eagles beat the Wolverines, that’s a great thing in my book! The Eagles look to make it 2 for 2 in ’09 with a 7:40 PM EST contest tonight against the University of Indiana(Pennsylvania).
